Tomato Chianti Rose

A Pink Beefsteak Open Pollinated tomato on potato leafed indeterminate plants.

Description

A fairly large pink fruited potato leafed tomato which was a cross between Brandywine and a family Italian variety. The result is a tomato which inherits the potato leaf and depth of flavour from Brandywine together with a thin skin which I guess comes from the italian parent.

We have only grown this once (in 2015) and haven’t directly compared it with Pink Brandywine (something we should do) but the overall impression is that its not quite as late as Pink Brandywine but the fruits are (on average) slightly smaller (4-6 ounces).

Its one of the many Pink beefsteak varieties and one really needs a lot of space to do a true simultaneous comparison of all the options.
