Tomato German Gold

A yellow/red bicolour beefsteak heritage tomato on indeterminate plants.

Description

We grew German Gold in 2013 and 2014 with very different results. In 2013 we had over 2kg of fruit but in 2014 it was under 1kg. The fruit are attractive. Yellow with quite heavy fluting but with attractive pink colouring from the flower end of the fruit. It was definitely worth growing and, after a break, I’m sure we’ll try it again. It is said to originate from Virginia Mennonites in 1880’s and is a moderate producer of 1-2 lb. fruits.  A good slicer with sweet, mild, fruity flavors.

We thought it was going to be similar to Marvel Stripes but Marvel Stripes turned out to have a deeper orange with less pink.
