Tomato Roma

Elongated red medium sized heritage tomato on compact indeterminate plants.

Roma is one of the most common and prolofic Italian cooking tomatoes. is fleshy, sweet plum tomato with few seeds. Shorter and stockier than San Marzano, the flesh is thinner and it has a strong, sweet and more acidic taste. Ideal for cooking or canning. The indeterminate, regular-leafed plant produces a heavy mid season crop.

Needs to be staked to get the best benefit. Suitable for indoor or outdoor growing.

We’ve tried this cultivar a number of times and rarely found it very productive (like many of the Italian varieties), so we’ve been looking for alternative, cool climate, cooking tomatoes and so far have found Black Plum and Kibits Ukranian.

So we’ll probably give this one a miss in the future.
