Yellow Cherry Indeterminate tomato – similar to Oleron Yellow and others.
Description
This tomato comes to us from the 2019 seed swap. There were so many seeds swapped that we didn’t have space to grow it in 2020 and grew it for the first time in 2021.
Looking around the descriptions on the web, it sounds very much as though it is a yellow/orange version of Christmas Grapes. The trusses being clusters of cherry tomatoes rather than the long vines of other cultivars. The web seems to rave about the number of fruits per truss (50+) but that could easily be a one-off.
Our experience was slightly different. Very similar in appearance to our Oleron Yellow, with a sharp taste (again very similar and the sort we like in cherry tomatoes). The fruit are smaller than Oleron Yellow and hold on to the vine better. This is a good thing in that they don’t seem to fall off when ripe but a bad thing in that its more difficult to get the stalk out and when you do, the fruit has a tendency to split.
Like everything in 2021, it was late fruiting (first early August).
