Red Cherry heritage tomato on compact determinate plants.
Description
Acquired through the 2018 seed swap, this cultivar is common on the web. Its a short (12 inch) determinate cherry tomato, similar to Tiny Tim, Micro Tom, Red Robin and others.
Our comparison in 2019 showed that this cultivar was a worthwhile competitor to Red Robin but had larger fruit than both Tiny Tim and Micro Tom. The plant is bigger than Micro Tom (as are the fruits) but less scrambling than Red Robin (which ripened later). In the end though, like most of the determinate plants in 2019, it didn’t crop very well and suffered badly from grey mould which I think was cause by the damp in the polytunnel because of the weather.
One of the difficulties we have with all many tomato cultivars is being 100% convinced that two differently named cultivars are actually different and not just different names for the same cultivar.
