Red Cherry open pollinated tomato on compact determinate plants.
Description
This is another of the compact determinate red cherry tomatoes (similar to Tiny Tim). The seeds came to us via a seed swap and, when we grew them (2016) produced lots of small cherry tomatoes with an acceptable taste.
They are early, extremely compact plants that we have grown on the bench in our polytunnel. Because they are so compact, our plan in future years will be to grow them high up in the polytunnel, trying to make use of the space up above the other crops. We suspend pots from the framework of the polytunnel and grow dwarf french beans and lots of other crops underneath. Watering is a bit of a pain.
I haven’t been able to find anything about their history so I’ve called them Open Pollinated
