Yellow, oval cherry heritage tomato on indeterminate plants.
Description
Ildi (also known as Yellow Grape) is a yellow oval/plum shaped cherry tomato with a zesty tomatoey flavour. A mid/late ripening, indeterminate, regular-leafed plant with masses of small pear shaped sweet and juicy tomatoes. Each truss supports about 60 individual fruits which can stay in good condition for many weeks. Depending upon the weather these can be early or late. The fruit do not all ripen at the same time so the plants give a long season of fruit. We have always found that they give excellent late season flavour, perfect for later salads.
Their plum shape makes them different to many of the other yellow cherry tomatoes that we’ve grown.
As with many tomatoes, its difficult to find their history but they are supposed to be European origin.
After a gap of a number of years we grew this again in 2020 and it behaved just as previous times. Lots of flowers on each truss.
