A heart shaped beefsteak heritage tomato on indeterminate plants.
Description
Sunset’s Red Horizon is a medium/large beefsteak tomato with a good taste. A native of Southern Russia (where they are known as “Rostvskaya Krasno Ispolin” – literally “Red Giant of Rostov”). The leafy indeterminate plant grew to 6ft tall in 2012 with only three trusses of fruit well spaced up the vine. Each truss has between four and eight fruit. The medium/large (3 to 6-inch), red, meaty, heart-shaped fruits have few seeds and a lot of flesh. We grew them for the first time in 2012 and will grow them again for the interesting shape and (fairly) early ripening (the first fruit ripened in early September in 2012, earlier than all the beefsteaks except Black Krim). They can continue going through until November (as you can tell by the background in the picture). Proven resistant to frost, blossom end rot and cracking.
