Tomato Brown Berry

A dark brown cherry heritage tomato on Indeterminate plants.

Description

Brown Berry is a cherry tomato with fantastic smokey/sweet flavoured juicy little fruits that hang in swathes on the vine. A mid-ripening, indeterminate, regular-leafed, round, brown tomato which doesn’t seem to split, whatever you do, Brown Berry adds colour and flavour to salads and is excellent for cooking cut in half in a warm salad. The flavour blends together the smokey richness of brown tomatoes with the sharp sweetness of cherry tomatoes.

We probably prefer Brown Berry to the other options (Rosella and Black Cherry) because it seems to be much less likely to split despite the fact that it is thin skinned.

This is one of our favourite tomatoes and one we always try to make space for.

We had a problem in that we thought we had bought this cultivar in 2013 only to find that instead we had (what we’ve called) Black Plum. However, we found another source in 2015 and had a successful harvest.
