Spring Flowers – 3

Every day when I go out into the garden. I’m surprised how quickly things are appearing. The clumps of snowdrops are getting bigger and the crocuses seem to be spreading still further and other flowers are showing themselves. Today’s pictures: Iris Violet Camelia

Spring Flowers – 2

Its amazing how quickly the flowers are popping their heads up now that the days are getting longer. Over the past few years we’ve tried splitting up the spring bulbs around the garden and we’ve bought naturalising crocus which are spresding themselves through the lawns (almost out of control). The real problem with that will…… Continue reading Spring Flowers – 2

More spring flowers

As spring approaches, more flowers are beginning to show, Aconites and the first of the crocuses. Yet more spring flowers We’ve still got lots of leaves to clear up but the weather isn’t perfect.

2022 – Deciding what else to grow

Whilst most of what I write about is my tomatoes, there is also space for other vegetables and fruit, some of which are permanent and others which I have to decide about. Lots of plants are in the process of strengthening, growing and beginning to set fruit & vegetables but the harvest is a bit slow. Some of the difficulty is down to the weather…… Continue reading Mid June Harvest (19th June 2021)

Weird Flowers and the Effect of a late spring

It turns out its an example of “terminal peloria” a well known but infrequent spontaneous genetic mutation…… Continue reading Weird Flowers and the Effect of a late spring

Home Gardening – June 2021 Update

Despite the cold and wet May, the tomatoes are all planted up unto their final containers. I haven’t done as many different varieties this year (not really sure why) nor have I as many plants as usual. However, a good mix of indeterminate (cordon) and determinate (bush) will see enough tomatoes for the year (unless…… Continue reading Home Gardening – June 2021 Update
